The Lemurs of Madagascar

Antananarivo to Antananarivo
A basic lodge accommodated safari to discover the Lemurs of Madagascar.
We spend one night camping in the Nosy Mangabe Lemur Reserve. A trip to
remember to a continent Frozen in time!
Itinerary
Day 1: Antananarivo
Arrive and transfer to your hotel. "Tana" is a colourful, bustling
city boasting cobbled streets, French cuisine and lively markets packed
with local crafts.
Day 2/3: Perinet Reserve
After breakfast we head for the world famous Perinet Lemur Reserve part
of Mantadia National Park. The best place to see the ‘Indri Indri’
Lemur, an endangered species and also the largest of the lemurs.
Day 4: Toamasina
We drive to Toamasina and your hotel. Here we visit the Zoological park
of Ivoloina, situated 12 km from Foul Pointe. In this beautiful, peaceful
park we encounter the endangered lemurs.
Day 5: Nosy Mangabe
Fly into Maroantsetra, where we travel by boat to Nosy Mangabe. Established
as a Special Reserve for the preservation of the rarest lemur of all,
the Aye aye or Daubentonia Madagascariensis. The island is covered by
rainforest and the canopy is about 35 m high. Lunch, dinner and overnight
camping on this exquisite island.
Day 6: Maroantsetra
Return to Maroantsetra and overnight your hotel.
Day 7: Antananarivo
We fly back to Antananarivo and overnight your hotel.
Days 8/9: Berenty Reserve
Flight to Fort Dauphin; you will be met upon arrival before driving to
the private reserve of Berenty. Countless ring-tailed lemurs, fruit bats,
radiated tortoises, 100 species of birds and 115 species of plant, including
endemic succulents, the rare triangular palm, euphoria’s, baobabs,
carnivorous pitcher plants and a lot more!
Day 10: Antananarivo
Drive back to Fort Dauphin for the flight back to Antananarivo and your
hotel. Afternoon visit to the zoological park of Tsimbazaza gives us the
chance to see many varied species lemurs, which are caged for active breeding
programmes.
Day 11:
Transfer to the airport for your connecting flight.
