Botswana Highlights
16 Days / 15 Nights
In Botswana, almost a quarter of this magnificent
country is devoted to wildlife sanctuaries and these remote and
unspoilt wilderness areas are widely acknowledged as offering the
finest game viewing in Africa. We have designed this 15 Night
Camping Safari with the adventure traveler in mind.
Itinerary
Day 1: Nata
On arrival you will be met at the airport where your safari begins.
Travel north from Johannesburg to cross the South Africa/Botswana
border for overnight accommodation at Nata Lodge, an oasis-like
camp on the edge of the salt pan. (own expense meals)

Day 2: Makgadikgadi Pans
Visit the nearby salt pans by 4x4 vehicle to view the unique bird life
and other desert species. Travel to Makgadikgadi Pans for a short interlude
onto the white crusty surface. (BLD)
Day 3: Maun
Travel to Maun for supplies and overnight at the Camp on the banks of
the Thamalakane River. (BLD)
Days 4-7: Okavango Delta
Drive to the edge of the swamps where we meet our Mokoro polers. Transfer
yourself and the equipment by dugout canoe into the heart of the Delta.
We glide silently through the maze of channels and open pools, stopping
here and there for a meal or just to watch a variety of game. We spend
4 days exploring the Delta, including a day’s walk on Chief’s
Island in search of Game. Our aim is to get as remote as possible,
as there will be time to enjoy the remoteness and serenity of the
area. (BLD) |

Days 8-12: Moremi/Savuti and Chobe National Parks
We travel back to Maun for supplies and prepare for the game viewing part
of the trip. Perched high on our well-equipped vehicle we head north on
the highway of sand, passing remote villages and curio sellers along the
way. We spend 5 days in these reserves, starting with Moremi, to camp
the first night near the well known 3rd bridge. We then head north via
Xakanaxa to camp near north gate. This area is excellent for game viewing
and we will conduct afternoon and morning drives along the wetland areas.
Then on to Savuti where we spend 2 nights. The area offers a multitude
of game drive options and a very active campsite (Keep the fruit well
hidden from the roving elephants and the meat from the prowling hyenas).
The vegetation is constantly changing from open plains, palm trees and
march lands, to dense Mopane woodlands and Acacia scrub.
Moving into Chobe, famous for its large herds of Elephants which gather
on the flood plains, we spend the morning exploring the banks of the majestic
Chobe River. (BLD)
Days 13-14: Victoria Falls
It is with new excitement that we make for Zimbabwe and the fantastic
Victoria Falls. After admiring this wonder of the world, various other
places can be visited including the tribal village, the crocodile farm
and the curio-market.
We spend two nights in Victoria Falls at the Drifters Inn, thus allowing
people the opportunity to explore the area including a 1 day White Water
Rafting Trip, Bungi Jumping or even a flight by helicopter over the falls.
(BLD)
Day 15: Nata
Today we will return to Botswana and complete the triangle back to Nata.
Day 16: Johannesburg

on arrival back into Johannesburg.
