Johannesburg to Cape Town -
Basic Accommodation Safari

On this safari we visit the highlights of South Africa, but we leave the beaten track to explore the great outdoors, often walking and hiking. This tour involves some camping but mostly bungalows and inns are utilised. This safari demands a certain amount of fitness and flexibility.

Itinerary:

Day 1/2/3: Kruger National Park
Depart Johannesburg and head to the Kruger National Park via Pilgrims Rest, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Three Rondavels and Blyde River Canyon. We stay at our Bushveld Camp bordering the Kruger Park. Game drives in open safari vehicles by day and night in the park in search of the “Big Five”.

Day 4: Hazyview
Leave the park after an extensive morning’s game drive and overnight at the lodge in Hazyview.

Day 5/6: Swaziland/Zululand
Travel through the Kingdom of Swaziland, visiting markets and villages en route. Enter Zululand for two nights at a rustic camp situated in the sand forest on our private game reserve near Hluhluwe. We will hike near Lake St Lucia, enjoy a game drive in the Game Reserve, and experience the Zulu Culture.

Zulu Diviner

Day 7: Dolphin Coast
Travel to one of the world’s finest coastlines for overnight at the Dolphin Coast Inn, situated literally on the beach. Spend time exploring the nearby lagoon and beach.

Day 8/9: Drakensberg
Visit the city of Durban. Travel to the Drakensberg mountain range. Transfer to 4x4 vehicle and enjoy an exciting drive on mountain tracks up to the Lesotho border. Spend two nights in log cabins – time spent hiking and exploring the wonders of this National Heritage Site.

Day 10: Bloemfontein
Travel on to the Golden Gate National Park, well known for its towering sandstone cliffs and wealth of unique wildlife. Overnight.

Day 11/12: Karoo
Travel through the dry karoo interior via quaint and remote farming villages on to the Karoo Inn - for two nights in original stone cottages. During our stay, enjoy an extensive walk in the mountainous terrain.

Table Mountain

Day 13/14/15: Garden Route
We cross the mighty Outeniqua Mountains to the lush coastal Garden Route area. We will spend three nights in cozy log cabins hidden in the heart of the forest. Days will be spent exploring this renowned region and its many attractions.

Day 16/17/18: Cape Town
Visit the Lake District then travel onto the "Mother City" of Cape Town for three nights at the Inn, situated on the Sea Point beachfront. We will spend two days visiting Cape Point, Hout Bay, the waterfront, secluded beaches, a wine farm and many more highlights. We will also hike up Table Mountain.

This tour ends at 16h00 on day 18.
