Rewarding Malawi

8 Days
Lilongwe to Lilongwe

Have you ever wanted to share your skills, or give back to the people and make a difference in the places you visit on your adventures? On the volunteer style tour you will experience true cultural immersion by working alongside local people to improve their basic living conditions. This trip also gives you plenty of time to relax and explore, so go and be rewarded in a country that will share its heart with you.

Itinerary:

Days 1/2: Lilongwe – Kumbali Village
Transfer ex Lilongwe airport by road to Kumbali Village, an experience that will replicate that of a traditional Malawi community with some modern touches for comfort. Accommodation is based on traditional village architecture with mud walls and thatched roofing. Your day at Kumbali will consist of visiting local villages participating in permaculture projects and gaining a greater understanding of the Malawi way of life. Evenings will include drumming sessions around a burning log fire. (BLD)

Day 3: Kuti Community and Wildlife Ranch
After breakfast you will be transferred to Kuti Community and Wildlife Ranch. 90km east of Lilongwe, approximately 75mins. This is where you will spend the next 5 nights. This volunteer scheme, run by Bornwild, offers visitors a rewarding opportunity to spend time in rural Malawi, engage with the Kuti Communities and its environment and help in which way you can. Your time, skills and enthusiasm are extremely valuable gifts to these humble and friendly people. Overnight accommodation in basic “A” Frame chalet’s at Sanga Camp. Bathroom and toilet facilities are shared, electricity is limited.

Days 4-7: Kuti
Your personal contribution could be in an orphanage or one of the local schools providing children with life skills, care and basic education. Alternatively you may wish to help develop and improve sustainable agricultural practices or provide positive and health forms of sport and recreation. Whatever your skill level or experience, your involvement over the next 4 days will provide a unique insight into the poor yet welcoming community and will most certainly prove to be memorable.

Day 8: Kuti – Lilongwe
