Accra to Accra

Itinerary

Day 1: Accra
Arrive and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Kakum National Park
Along Cape Coast, see some of the old European castles to Kakum National Park. Canopy walk on the suspended rope bridge.

Day 3: Ashanti Kingdom
North to Kumasi, the historical and spiritual capital of the Ashanti Kingdom. Visit the market (one of the biggest in West Africa).

Day 4/5: Caravan Route
Follow the ancient caravan routes past Sudanese style mosques to Mole National Park, the biggest game reserve in Ghana. Chances to see elephants, antelopes, buffalos, monkeys and hippo.

Day 6: Lobi Tribe
Visit the Lobi people with their characteristic mud brick architecture. Visit Wa and its Sudanese-style royal palace, meet the chief.

Day 7: Navrongo
Continue to the Navrongo region where we meet members of the Gurunsi (or Kassena) Tribe, the creators of beautiful Africans murals.

Day 8: Talensi Tribe/Tongo/Togo
To the region of the Talensi Tribe. Walking excursion to the high plateau of Tongo .Crossing into Togo for overnight

Day 9: Moba Tribe/Sokode
Visit traditional villages of the Moba Tribe and the Tamberma people, who sought refuge from the slave traders here, centuries ago.

Day 10: Sokode/Kloto
Travel south past numerous villages en route to Atakpame. Visit the weavers of “kente”, a tissue used by the notables for their ceremonial outfits.

Day 11: Kloto
Full-day of trekking to explore the forest.

Day 12: Benin
Cross the border into Benin. Visit the Royal Palace in Abomey.

Day 13: Ganvie
Crossing Lake Nokwe by boat we reach Ganvie, a wonderfully picturesque village belonging to the Tofinou tribe, built entirely on teak stilts.

Day 14: Ouidah/Togo
Ouidah is considered the spiritual capital of voodoo and we visit the python temple situated directly opposite the Catholic cathedral. Also visit a traditional healer and possibly to take part in an authentic voodoo ceremony.

Day 15: Lome/Accra
InvLome visit the biggest “fetish market” in West Africa, where monkey skulls, snake skins, batwings, and all the necessary ingredients for preparing magical potions can be found. Cross the border back into Ghana.

Day 16: Accra
Tour ends after breakfast.
