Blog - African Bush Camps

Blown away by this amazing Continent.

Was fortunate to have participated in an incredible Famil hosted by African Bush Camps.

What joy flying from camp to camp with Mack Air and Safari Logistics seeing Botswana and Zimbabwe from high above.

From the moment you wake up with a hot cuppa and home-made biscuit watching the animals waking and the sun rising to a Sundowner in the evening and witnessing the most amazing Sunsets – this is Africa!!

Every day was different, from a brisk morning walk with our professional guide, canoeing down the mighty Lower Zambezi with Hippo’s alongside us, fishing to exhilarating game drives to spot as many animals as we could – not only the Big 5 but the Little 5 as well.

The landscape took my breath away, the air was so fresh and the people so humble.

Our first stop was Khwai Bush Camp a small family friendly Lodge located on the banks of the Khwai River – game viewing from the moment you land at the local airstrip.

Onto Linyanti Tented Camp, family friendly Tented Camp that feature large balconies that overlook the marsh that was surrounded by 100’s of Elephants.

Next stop the luxurious 5 Star Thorntree River Lodge – stunning Lodge, each chalet has its own plunge pools that overlooks the Zambezi River.

Onto Somalisa Camp – Elegant Canvas Tents located in the Hwange National Park – large watering hole features in the main guest area where hours can be spent watching the animals gather to drink.  Sightings of Zebra, Elephants, Lion, Baboons, Hyena & plenty of gorgeous bird life.

The beautiful Bumi Hills was next, a cliff-side property overlooking Starvation Island Lake Kariba offering game drives, fishing, boating and fishing on the Island which is weather dependent.

Onto Kanga Camp located on a private concession in the Mana pools – a very comfortable rustic tented Camp with outdoor shower – highlight sitting on the deck as the Elephants come right up close and drink from the watering hole.

Last stop Zambezi Expeditions Mana Pools – a very comfortable Tented Camp with outdoor bucket shower and very hot water a bonus, it’s situated metres from the River where the game viewing could not get any better Hippos, Elephants, Water Buffalo’s and sightings of Wild Dog, Croc’s and Leopard on our game drives.

Africa has something for everyone.

Once you have experienced Africa, it gets in your blood and you just want to go back again and again.
