A day that is precious to Norfolk Islander’s hearts is Anniversary Day, otherwise known as Bounty Day. Each year on the 8th of June a celebration takes place in remembrance of the day their Ancestors arrived from Pitcairn Island.. come and join us on this small group tour to discover the Bounty Mutineer descendants as they re-enact the landing of their forbearers. The landing takes place at the Kingston Pier, the oldest pier in the Southern Hemisphere.

Day 1: 07 June 2021
On arrival on Norfolk Island, we will be met and transferred to The Paradise Hotel and Resort for 7 nights’ accommodation in a Garden View Room including full Cooked breakfast each day. Enjoy a complimentary welcome drink on arrival and then your afternoon is at leisure to relax and settle into your accommodation.

The Paradise Hotel and Resort – Our popular resort hotel is nestled in 11 acres of beautifully landscaped sub-tropical gardens. With 50 spacious rooms – our cosy Garden Rooms are located on both the ground and first floors with many on the ground floor boasting a private terrace to enjoy the hotel gardens and swimming pool. Each room comprises of either a king, queen or twin beds, private bathroom, satellite television, DVD player, refrigerator, IDD phones, clock radio, fan, iron/board, hair dryer and tea/coffee facilities.

During your stay, why not relax by our swimming pool with a cocktail or enjoy dinner at one of the island’s finest restaurants – The Garden Restaurant & Bar. Enjoy indoor & outdoor dining with seasonal menus created by our talented Chef’s using fresh local produce.

Day 2: 08 June 2021

This morning on Bounty Day, you will be picked up from reception to join the Bounty Mutineer descendants as they enact the landing of their forbearers. The landing takes place at the Kingston Pier, the oldest pier in the Southern Hemisphere. You can follow the procession of the Bounty Mutineers descendants who will be dressed in period costume to the Cenotaph to pay respects to fallen heroes where hymns are sung. Then it is onto the Cemetery where wreaths are laid, local hymns and the Pitcairn Anthem, (Norfolk Island’s national anthem) are sung. The Bounty Mutineer descendants then make their way to the All Saints Church for the judging of the best dressed families. You can observe the tradition of the children of the Bounty Mutineers descendants rolling down the Government House hill. Then it’s off to morning tea followed by a traditional Island picnic lunch. Before lunch the Norfolk grace will be sung. You will sample some traditional Norfolk wetls enjoy complimentary, red and white wine, orange juice, tea and coffee.

Day 3: 09 June 2021

Discover Our World – is an informative tour to Discover Norfolk Island to introduce you to the beauty and diversity of our Island paradise. Tour the Island with informative local guides to set the scene for your stay.

Trial of 15 – You are an eyewitness to a courtroom drama as fifteen extraordinary characters’ step on stage to expose Norfolk’s colourful and sometimes turbulent past. The testimony of those on trial reveals the story of Norfolk Island, Polynesian visitation, European discovery, convict misery and arrival of the Pitcairn Islanders. This highly successful show has been running for over ten years to more than 35,000 visitors

Commandants’ Dinner
This factual yet fun dinner theatre is Norfolk Island’s newest interactive show and a great way to learn about Norfolk’s history. The cast of actors will take you on an entertaining journey back in time. You will be enthralled by the Commandants’ stories about the notorious Convict Settlements on Norfolk Island and how the convicts were treated by sadists and reformers alike.

Listen to a chilling recall of one of the infamous rebellions. Marvel at how the Commandants and their families adapted to life in a Norfolk Island penal colony, recreating a little piece of England in the Pacific. Explore their great challenges, impressive successes and shameful secrets.

Our venue has created a special three-course dinner menu of traditional English fare to compliment the theatrical setting. Hearty, wholesome, British tucker fit for a Commandant and his good lady wife – fortunately prepared by free men in a modern kitchen not a poor convict over a wood stove!

The Commandants’ Dinner is a night of great entertainment, delectable food and loads of fun.

Day 4: 10 June 2021
You will be collected from your hotel and depart on today’s touring itinerary:

Breakfast Bushwalk – Your walk will take you through diverse habitats from rain forest to clifftops, between enormous pines and white-woods and surrounded by seabirds. While the topography is hilly, the pace is relaxed and our guides cater to a range of fitness levels. Your efforts will be richly rewarded by a delicious barbeque breakfast with all the trimmings, which awaits. Learn about our flora and fauna and see some of our 40 endemic species of plants and birds. For those that just want to join us for breakfast come along! We will relax and meet up with the others for breakfast. Three walk/non-walk options available to suit all fitness levels!

Taste of Norfolk – will take you to a beekeepers’ home where you will view flow hives, learn about the fascinating local honeybees, and view their incredible flight path to their hives.

Next stop will be a beef and dairy farm where you will learn about supplying milk to make local cheese and fresh milk for the market place. Your hosts will also give you a taste of local beef sausages.

Last visit will be a cooking demonstration and where you will learn about the traditional Island way of cooking handed down by our Tahitian foremothers. , You will meet 3 passionate locals so just sit back, relax and enjoy!

Island Fish Feast – You will have an eagle-eyed view of the tiny crescent-shaped beach and the magnificent spread of ocean stretching to the far horizon.

The beautifully set tables will delight you – it’s the most glamorous picnic you will ever attend! Scrumptiously fresh, local fish is prepared the local way and accompanied with a range of seasonal island dishes including those passed down from our Polynesian fore-mothers. This extends even to dessert. Our feast kicks off with entertainment, by a local singer and Tahitian-style dancers. The venue is subject to change if the weather becomes inclement

Day 5: 11 June 2021

Colleen McCullogh Home Tour – Colleen McCullough, world-renowned author of 24 books called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years. She and husband, Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway and maintained their privacy to ensure that Colleen had the perfect environment for her writing. Some of her most powerful titles were created in this much-loved sanctuary.

Her beloved property “Out Yenna” is now open. Be escorted through her magnificent home and view Ric and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world. This is a glimpse into the life of a modern-day literary icon. If you have read her amazing books, you will love the experience of sharing the world of Colleen McCullough, author of “Tim”, “The Thornbirds” and “Morgan’s Run”.

Progressive Dinner – The three course Progressive Dinner is the perfect way to get a taste of the real Norfolk lifestyle. Baunti’s Progressive Dinner takes you to lovely Island homes.

All you must do is relax and enjoy the home-cooked food, bursting with the goodness of fresh island produce, chat with your fellow diners and soak up the stories of your island hosts as they share their passion for their little island paradise.

Day 6: 12 June 2021
Free day for last minute shopping – shops close at noon

Glass Bottom Boat Trip – $65 per person
Christian’s Glass Bottom boat will take you on a cruise within the lagoon of Emily and Slaughter Bays. Norfolk Island has the second southernmost coral reef in the world and attracts a diversity of marine life. You will view a wide variety of species of colourful fish and beautiful coral as you cruise the crystal-clear pristine waters of the lagoon.

1856 The Untold Story

On 8 June 1856 a total of 194 people, descendants from the Bounty, arrived on Norfolk Island from Pitcairn Island aboard the Morayshire. This consisted of 40 men, 47 women, 54 boys, and 53 girls. They arrived in cold, wet blustery conditions. Few had ever been to sea before, they were seasick, homesick and heartsick. The journey of 6,000 km/ 3,700 miles took five weeks. They arrived to a recently abandoned penal settlement set aside for the ‘worst of the worst’ it was full of ghosts and memories. It was a large and frightening testimony of man’s inhumanity to man. The 1856 untold story will follow their journey in the World Heritage Listed Kingston area. Baunti Escapes will bring the past to life with an audio aboard their coach, recounting stories of the families, where they lived and how they adapted to their new life on Norfolk Island. This 1-hour tour is very evocative

Learn about World Heritage Listed Kingston. Hear about our first settlers, the Polynesians who came 900 years ago, learn about our First and second settlements and the facts and legends associated with each. Learn how Norfolk became home to the descendants of the infamous Bounty mutiny. Walk through the historic cemetery.

Lantern Lit Ghost Tour – $47 per person
Something is out there! As the night sets in and the long shadows fall, come and take a lantern-lit ride to the other side. Step through the veil into the worst of all possible worlds. Explore the crooked cobbled nether – world of Norfolk’s dark and troubled past as we visit real haunted sites. Hear real ghost stories, which have for generations lain forgotten and abandoned until now. Double dare you to follow me!
