Day 1: Monday, 01 February 2021 (Adelaide – Barossa) L,D
This morning you will be collected from your hotel and commence your three day tour of some of the best that South Australia has to offer. Commence today exploring the most famous wine brands in the country, including Torbreck Wines and Elderton Wines and finishing with a private VIP experience at Henschke Wines in the vineyards and behind the scenes to discover the secrets of this most prestigious wine label. Lunch today is a two course meal with matched wines at Vintners Restaurant.

Following your experience at Henschke Wines, transfer to the Coastal Lodge at Carrickalinga.

This evening enjoy a sunset dinner at the farm of Coast & Co. owner Simon Burley. Built high on a hill, with views across Gulf St Vincent to Kangaroo Island, land at your own personal lookout and enjoy a stunning BBQ in the fields with wine from Simon’s own private collection.

Coastal Lodge
With magnificent ocean views and a pastoral setting, Coastal Lodge offers private luxurious accommodation in a tranquil and exclusive setting. The lodge has three private suites as well as sumptuous communal areas, and offers a home away from home with a designer kitchen and personal wine fridges. Two BBQ areas, both undercover and outdoor, provide incredible views spanning as far as the ocean. Daily breakfast provisions are provided. Coastal Lodge is the ideal retreat in an idyllic location.

Coastal Lodge, Carrickalinga 2 nights

Day 2: Tuesday, 02 February 2021 (McLaren Vale) B,L,D
Today starts with nature and wildlife then explores some of the best wineries of McLaren Vale and its most celebrated winemakers. You will be collected from Coastal Lodge and transferred to Onkaparinga Gorge to see indigenous history, native animals and geology that dates back 600 million years.

Continue to Samson Tall vineyard for tasting and a tour before enjoying a two-course lunch at the Salopian Inn, named South Australia’s best restaurant in The Advertiser Food Awards for 2018. Set in a charming 1850s building with a fireplace and vineyard views, the Inn has an exceptional local and international wine cellar, and offers contemporary Australian cuisine with a regional, seasonal focus.

After lunch visit the avant-garde, Rubik’s Cube inspired, d’Arenberg Cube, which erupts from the heart of its original McLaren Vale vineyard. The branchild of Chester Osborn, take a tour of the Alternate Realities museum and enjoy a tasting in the Cube Cellar Door.

Enjoy a further tasting and tour at Bekkers Wine before driving to Silver Sands Beach, a famous strip of beach taking in majestic views of the Fleurieu coastline and spectacular biodiversity.

This evening dine at local icon, the Victory Hotel, with its magnificent cellar and coastal views.

Coastal Lodge, Carrickalinga

Day 3: Wednesday, 03 February 2021 (Fleurieu Peninsula – Adelaide) B,L,D
Today return to Adelaide touring the majestic Fleurieu Peninsula taking in some of the state’s best coast, nature and 4WD tracks into raw national park and wild beaches.

Commence your day with a 4WD trip along wild Goolwa Beach, with some easy hiking through the coastal dune system that sits behind it. See the wild beauty of the Southern Ocean as you drive the beach, and the Coorong estuary system as you walk the dunes. This takes in pelicans and other bird life, the Coorong estuary, cockle hunting along the beach, raw Southern Ocean views.

Continue to famous coastal town of Goolwa, overlooking the might Murray River as it verges into the Southern Ocean. Situated on the water’s edge in the old port of Goolwa, take a walk past the Fleurieu Distillery and then hop on board for a tour of one of the original paddle-steamers that use to ply the mighty Murray River.

Enjoy a casual lunch on the boardwalk of the Flying Fish Café, looking out over Horseshoe Bay, Port Elliot. The Flying Fish Cafe is an iconic beachside eatery providing some of the freshest seafood on the Peninsula. After lunch take a path around the Horseshoe Bay heads to see the Southern Ocean, dramatic granite cliffs and the occasional humpback whale!

Visit Victor Harbour, the original port where the capital of South Australia was first destined. Take a drive around Encounter Bay before taking a walk up the ‘Bluff’.

Then continue to Deep Creek Conservation Park, a spectacular nature reserve at the southern-most tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula. It has magnificent views of Kangaroo Island, bountiful flora and fauna, and the famous Heysen Trail which traverses the coast. Take a 4WD trip into the park and visit Goondooloo Trail with its multitude of kangaroos and spectacular Kangaroo Island views, then enjoy a breathtaking lookout over wild Blowhole Creek beach.

Finally continue to Adelaide where you will be dropped at your accommodation.

Your tour concludes at your Adelaide accommodation.

Day 4: Thursday, 04 February 2021 (Adelaide-Kangaroo Island) B,D
Widely acclaimed as Australia’s Galapagos, Kangaroo Island is home to an abundance of native wildlife and spectacular natural attractions. Covering almost 4,500 square kilometres it is Australia’s third largest island and offers the best of the mainland on a smaller, more intimate scale. With more than one third of the island declared as Conservation or National Park, visitors readily come face-to-face with prolific bird and animal species such as New Zealand fur seals, koalas, kangaroos, Australian sea lions, ospreys, echidnas and much, much more.

Meet your driver in the lobby and transfer by private vehicle to Adelaide Airport in time for your onward flight.

Day 5: Friday, 05 February 2021 (Kangaroo Island) B,L,D
This morning meet your driver/guide for a full day of private Island touring.

Have a cuppa with some home made treats before taking a walk down a country track through tall Eucalyptus trees where koalas snooze overhead or wake briefly for a feed. Listen for the sounds of the bush – brightly coloured honeyeaters and brilliant parrots, cicadas or perhaps just the sound of silence.

Travel through the Island’s most productive country to the north coast. Walk through the bush with your guide – through strangely shaped trees learning what makes that noise, whose tracks are those, and who left THAT little pile there? Look for small wallabies almost extinct on the mainland, a kangaroo found only on Kangaroo Island and a variety of other birds, plants and animals.

Break for lunch at a private bush camp and enjoy a delicious meal featuring King George whiting (local sea fish), fresh salads and fine South Australian wines.

At Seal Bay Conservation Park take a private tour with your guide among Australian sea-lions on a beautiful sandy beach – an experience similar to that of the Galapagos. Watch pups nursing or playing in the surf, see old bulls bearing the scars of territorial disputes and learn about their unique breeding biology.

Day 6: Saturday, 06 February 2021 (Kangaroo Island) B,L,D
This morning meet your driver/guide for a full day of private Island touring.

Begin the day in the island’s north-west in an important private wildlife refuge with Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife.

Check out wildlife surveys targeting tiny endangered mammals and get an introduction to the bush, so the fire ecology experienced later in the day has context.

Break for an elegant picnic lunch in the bush, featuring marinated poached chicken, fresh salads, cheeses and fantastic South Australian wine, beer, soft drinks and spring water.

After lunch, travel into Flinders Chase National Park and explore the massive shapes of Remarkable Rocks, a natural sculpture perched impossibly on top of a dome of granite emerging from the ocean.

Evidence of the power of the Southern Ocean swell continues at Admirals Arch – a coastal grotto which provides a haul out for a large colony of Long-nosed fur seals who swim effortlessly through the crashing waves
