We invite you to join us on this Mid-Week Wine and Wildlife Discovery, a 4 day adventure that encapsulates the diversity that regional NSW has to offer.
Take a scenic drive to Mudgee for local food and wineries. Enjoy the picturesque drive to Moothi Estate for an extensive wine tasting and lunch platters. Stop in Dubbo to experience a slice of Africa with a visit of the Taronga Western Plains Zoo and a stay at the stunning Zoofari Lodge. Final stops include Orange and the beautiful Heritage listed town of Millthorpe.
Day 1: Tuesday, 01 June 2021, Sydney to Mudgee (L)
7.30am: Commence our drive to Mudgee. There is a reason that Mudgee has become one of the most visited Wine Regions in NSW. It is one of the country’s greatest wine towns, where wineries set on rolling hills serve award-winning drops and epicurean fare. We will stop enroute for restrooms and option to purchase morning tea refreshments.
1.00pm Moothi Estate for Wine Tasting and Lunch Platters.
On arrival into the region, we will enjoy lunch of local produce platters at Moothi Estate and Winery, a boutique, family-owned wine producer, nestled in the hills of beautiful Mudgee, New South Wales. With stunning views enjoy a wine tasting and order lunch platters.
3.00pm Winery Tasting
We will visit a boutique winery for wine tasting of some of the region’s great wines. On completion of our tasting, we arrive at your accommodation this evening as booked by your agent. Time to relax at leisure.
Recommendation for dinner is either Roth Wine Bar OR Oriental Hotel. Your guide is available to provide dinner transfers. Dinner is own expense this evening.

Day 2: Wednesday 02 June 2021 – Mudgee to Western Plains Zoo
9.30am Depart Mudgee to enjoy a scenic country drive as we make our way to our overnight destination the Western Plains Zoo. Enroute, we have a short visit to the pioneer town of Gulgong where you can step back in time and potter around the original and narrow bent streets with high footpaths in the historic town. Gulgong was founded in the gold rush era when an estimated 20,000 people flocked to the area.
From here, it’s a pretty 1.5 hour drive via country roads to arrive into Dubbo in time for you to purchase a casual lunch at a one of the Iconic Country Pubs before we arrive at our overnight destination, the Western Plains Zoo. Here you will experience a slice of Africa without leaving Australia! The Zoofari Lodge is positioned right beside a stunning savannah, home to giraffes, rhinos, zebra and antelope and offers an unrivalled in-zoo safari experience with accommodation in unique lodges. This wild escape is inclusive of meals, accommodation, exclusive tours, zoo entry and bike hire. On arrival time to relax and enjoy the views from your luxury tents. This evening includes dinner and Wine Tasting at the Lodge Dining Room (Beverages with dinner are NOT included and at your own cost) followed by an evening Spotlight Tour with a Zoo Ranger.

Day 3: Thursday 03 June 2021 – Western Plains Zoo to Orange
Set your alarm or just rely on the Zoo’s wildlife alarm to wake you in the morning! We will set off early for a guide morning Tour at the Zoo, followed by breakfast. Checking out of the lodge, we will spend majority of the day exploring the Zoo and its range of exhibits. The Zoo is home to hundreds of rare and endangered animals including giraffes, rhinos, elephants and big cats. Daily keeper activities (included in zoo entry) deliver magical experiences you will never forget. You will have time also to purchase lunch at leisure at the Zoo’s Café.
Mid-afternoon, we depart from the Zoo and commence our 2 hour drive to Orange, our destination for tonight.
Dinner tonight is at own expense.

Day 4: Friday 04 June 2021 – Orange to Sydney
9.30am: Check out and depart for Rowlee Winery
Departing this morning, our first stop of the day is at Rowlee Wines, where heritage is honoured, and innovation and the quest for excellence are paramount. This committed, family-owned estate is at the forefront of the new guard of premium, cool-climate winemaking, producing a range of elegant, handcrafted wines that not only reflect their unique provenance, but winemaker Tom Ward’s passion for his home region and his craft. From here it’s a short drive to the historic heritage listed village of Millthorpe where you have time to explore at leisure.. you may wish to browse in the enticing shops, or enjoy a wine tasting at a cellar door.
12 Noon: Old Mill Cafe, Millthorpe
Lunch reservations are made at the quaint Old Mill Café where you can purchase a casual lunch at your own expense.
1.30pm: Depart from Millthorpe and commence the journey back to Sydney to arrive approximately 5.30–6.00pm.
