Day 02: Perth (B, L)
This morning meet your representative in the lobby and depart on your full day private Rottnest Island Experience.

Board a local scheduled/shared ferry from Fremantle bound for Rottnest Island and begin your journey of discovery to one of Western Australia’s most popular islands. Disembark the ferry where you will have the option to enjoy a relaxing ride on the Island Explorer, jumping on and off at your favourite beaches, bay and attractions. For those wanting more activity, you may prefer to hire bikes and ride around the island.

Today, you will be shown where gaolers and ship pilots lived and worked and why Rottnest became an Aboriginal ‘open prison’ in 1839. Enjoy a short break at Bathurst lighthouse, and learn about the role that this lighthouse played in navigating ships between 1848 and 1903.

Lunch today is located on the water’s edge, enjoying the sweeping views across the bay and back to the mainland. After lunch, undertake the world famous ‘Quokka walk’, and hopefully uncover Rottnest Island’s famous marsupial, the quokka! With an educational focus, this walk will lead you to the quokka’s natural habitat and imparts some interesting facts about this iconic animal.

The remainder of the afternoon will be spent amongst the island’s museums, and World War II relics, before boarding the local scheduled/shared ferry back to Perth.

Your tour concludes at your accommodation.

Day 07: Ningaloo Reef (B, L, D)
Today undertake the whale shark experience of a lifetime – the chance to get up close and personal with the world’s largest fish. Take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the crystal waters of Ningaloo Reef and swim alongside these gentle giants as they cruise the waters of Western Australia’s north west cape, their annual meeting ground for up to six months.

Ningaloo Reef’s remarkable eco-system attracts hundreds of whale sharks with its abundance of naturally-occurring food that starts with the annual spawning of coral in March, and continues with the upwelling of nutrient-rich waters from the continental shelf that lies beneath Ningaloo. With plankton drifting closer to the surface, whale sharks gather en masse at Ningaloo to take advantage of easy, abundant feeding.

While whale sharks can grow to an impressive 15 metres in length, and have a mouth almost 1.5 metres wide, they pose no danger to humans. They are calm, slow moving, naturally curious fish that are undisturbed by snorkellers swimming in close proximity. You’ll be awestruck by their size and beauty.
