Join us on the South Coast Splendour journey to discover places that are all kinds of natural. Hidden gems on the New South Wales Coast where you can immerse yourself in the raw beauty of nature, unearth ancient cultures, and taste the freshness of the land and sea. We will discover spectacular coastlines, magnificent wilderness, top food and wine experiences and gorgeous seaside and hinterland towns on this 7 day adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1: Sunday, Sydney – Jervis Bay – Bateman’s Bay (L)
We begin our discovery of the NSW South Coast just south of Sydney on the Grand Pacific Drive touring route, winding our way through the Wollongong area and over the stunning Sea Cliff Bridge. We will enjoy a stop at Stanwell Park, an acclaimed spot for hang-gliding and paragliding and enjoy morning tea refreshments and views of the azure-coloured sea. From here, we will journey through Kiama and visit the famous Kiama Blowhole enroute to Jervis Bay. With its white sand beaches, sparkling blue waters and abundance of wildlife, Jervis Bay is a popular seaside escape and here we will have lunch at the local Pub and then enjoy an afternoon cruise on the bay to look for some of the bay’s wildlife including bottle nose dolphins, little penguins and fur seals. Time permitting, We will have a late afternoon stop at gorgeous Pebbly Beach which is famous for its friendly kangaroos before continuing our journey through to Bateman’s Bay and our overnight accommodation. Dinner tonight is at leisure and own expense.

Day 2: Monday, Bateman’s Bay – Narooma (B)
A leisurely day today to explore the stunning coastline that makes up this region. This morning will include a walk to Broulee Island which is joined to the mainland by a permanent sandbar and is always accessible. A short beach walk leads you to the island and photographers will enjoy the ocean vistas across pristine rock pools. The walk features native plants and is known for birdlife, including the superb fairy wren and white-bellied sea eagle. Lunch in the riverside town of Moruya at your leisure before visiting the Moruya Heads lookout offering views of the Moruya River mouth. Heading south we explore more superb coastal areas before reaching our destination for the next 3 nights, Narooma. Remainder of the afternoon/evening is free at leisure with dinner at leisure and own expense.

Day 3: Tuesday, Narooma (B)
After an early breakfast we head off to enjoy a spectacular morning boat trip to Montague Island. Just off the coast of Narooma, Montague Island is home to two seal colonies and many seabirds and is located within the protected Batemans Bay Marine Park. Take the opportunity to snorkel with the seals (weather dependent). Marvel at the dolphins who often follow the boat. At certain times of the year when the whales are migrating, you are bound to see these amazing creatures just off Narooma’s coastline (May to September). Returning in time for lunch at your leisure before spending the afternoon exploring the beauty of Narooma including Australia Rock, Mill Bay Boardwalk and the Glasshouse Rocks. Late afternoon enjoy the natural beauty of the Wagonga Inlet on our private Sunset cruise. Relax and enjoy canapes and beverages as you take in the spectacular views of Narooma and the changing colours as the sun sets. Dinner at leisure and own expense.

Day 4: Wednesday, Narooma (BL)
Our adventure today starts with a visit to Mystery Bay, a treasure trove of bays, inlets and unique rock formations – enjoy short walks and the opportunity for a swim before heading a short distance inland to the picturesque town of Tilba. Our first stop is at the Tilba Valley Winery & Ale House and here within the 10 acres of established vines enjoy a tasting of the available offerings! For beer lovers we have you covered.. step into the Alehouse for a tasting of brews!! After a delightful lunch at the winery, we spend time exploring the village. Set against the magnificent backdrop of Gulaga/Mt Dromedary, Central Tilba is a perfectly restored and maintained period village featuring a host of unique shops and galleries. Returning to Narooma, we enjoy a visit to the Narooma Oyster Farm. The region is renowned for having the most environmentally aware oysters growers and we here enjoy a sunset cruise and discover how they are produced and cultivated as we sample the product washed down by some chilled Sparkling! The evening is at leisure with dinner at own cost.

Day 5: Thursday, Narooma – Bowral (BL)
This morning we retrace our steps travelling back up the coast for a short distance before heading inland to the heritage listed town of Braidwood renowned for its colonial buildings. Braidwood is one of the prettiest towns in NSW and a hub for artists, potters, ironworkers, crafts people and designers. Continuing via back roads to Bungendore, a charming rural escape located in a pretty, green valley near the national capital, Canberra. Those who linger in Bungendore will find everything from lovingly preserved colonial buildings to markets, wineries and incredible craftsmanship. Time to explore before a visit to the Lark Hill Biodynamic Winery where here we will enjoy lunch on the deck. Mid afternoon we continue north to the charming Southern Highlands, our destination for the next 2 nights. Dinner at leisure and own expense.

Day 6: Friday, Southern Highlands (BLD)
There is so much to see in the Southern Highlands, from spectacular waterfalls and sprawling national parks to boutique wineries dotted throughout the landscape. The region’s towns, cellar doors and natural wonders are all within easy driving distance of each other. Today is spent exploring – enjoy short walks in the National Parks, sample fine wine at boutique wineries or perhaps a refreshing ale at a local brewery, sample local produce – so many hidden delights for food, wine and nature lovers! This evening enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Overnight: Bowral

Day 7: Saturday, Bowral – Sydney (BL)
This morning we travel into the picturesque Budderoo National Park, known for stunning scenery. Nature lovers will be in their element today with pristine rainforest walks, gorgeous waterfalls and stunning lookouts on our agenda today. We will visit a selection of waterfalls and enjoy walks through the lush beauty of the rainforest. Lunch will be picnic style today before we commence our return to Sydney to arrive approximately 4.30pm.

SINGLE TRAVELLERS REQUESTING TWIN SHARE:
Our policy is that all solo travellers must pay the single supplement. If at the time of departure there is another single that has requested to share, we will then refund the single supplement to both guests. We must wait until the tour has departed as circumstances can change with new bookings, cancellations etc.

TRAVEL INSURANCE is strongly recommended.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: These tours may involve travel in remote areas and the operator reserves the right to alter itineraries or accommodation as necessitated by weather, road and other operational conditions prevailing at the time each tour takes place.

WHAT TO BRING: Casual clothes, including warm gear, comfortable flat walking shoes or boots, a jacket, a hat, and sunscreen, toilet requirements and a torch. One small suitcase or bag. Light hand-luggage can accompany you inside the vehicle eg. cameras, day-bags, valuables etc.

MINIMUM NUMBERS:
This tour has been costed to operate with a minimum number of 8 Guests. We endeavour to operate all trips if being booked as an FIT Scheduled departure, however we reserve the right to cancel if this minimum number requirement is not met. Private Tours, please contact us for revised pricing if you have less than 8 in your party.

Level of Fitness Required – Medium
Whilst this tour is not physically demanding it does include nature walks in National Parks. There will be times where you will be required to navigate uneven tracks, inclines/descents on walks and all participants are required to be able to walk unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey. For all clients to fully enjoy this travel experience, excellent health and mobility is required by all.
