Spirit of Namibia: 9 Day Flying Safari from $16,795

This flying safari highlights the truly secluded Kaokoveld (north-west) region of Namibia, from the fascinating landscapes of Palmwag to the endless and turbulent coastline of the Skeleton Coast and the enormous, hidden Hartmann Valley in the far north. Travelling with Wilderness Air allows one to experience this vast and distinctive area – whether it is the changing colours of the Namib, the oldest desert in the world, the deep blue of the cool Atlantic coast or some of the remotest wilderness areas in Africa. The camps are all situated within private concessions, while accommodation styles vary between traditional tented rooms, canvas and thatch chalets and the unique design of the Hoanib tents.

The Spirit of Namibia itinerary begins at the rocky outcrops of the Palmwag Concession, where the largest free-ranging population of black rhino in Africa roam, before venturing into the wild and desolate Hoanib area, famed for its desert-adapted wildlife and your launch pad to the incredible Skeleton Coast. Here, massive seal colonies can be seen and tales of countless maritime misfortunes revealed. Finally, the oasis of the Kunene River, surrounded by mountains and plains, incredible night skies, the desert fauna, visiting the Himba people – one of the last true nomadic groups in Africa – and the wide open spaces, will complete this remarkable journey.
