Itinerary

Day 1:
On arrival at Ayers Rock airport you will be met and transferred to Sails in the Desert for 3 nights accommodation including breakfast daily

In the heart of Australia’s Red Centre, Sails in the Desert hotel beautifully contrasts Uluru’s raw natural beauty with a decidedly premium outback holiday experience. Soaring white sails crown Ayers Rock Resort’s Sails in the Desert hotel, shading 228 beautifully-appointed rooms and suites. In a destination where one of the world’s oldest cultures still thrives, the mystery, colour and wisdom of the local Anangu people is interwoven into every facet of Sails in the Desert’s modern design. This hotel features an expansive gumtree lined swimming pool and a diversity of modern dining, bar and lounge options. Relax and feast in the brasserie-style Ilkari Restaurant or let time tick by as you enjoy cocktails, music and Indigenous-inspired cuisine in the Walpa Lobby Bar, or curl up on one of the daybeds and enjoy a casual lunch and cocktail by the pool. Sails in the Desert’s stunning Mulgara Gallery takes you on an exploration through the unique styles and breathtaking stories of Indigenous art. Find each of your senses lulled into complete relaxation as you give in to one of the Red Ochre Spa’s treatments.

Afternoon at leisure.

Day 2: Helicopter View / Base Tour / Sunset
To fully appreciate the vast desert landscape and natural wonder of Uluru, you need to experience it from the air. Take to the skies to witness the awesome spectacle of this iconic monolith.

Get up close, witnessing 360° views of Uluru before witnessing the scale and size of Kata Tjuta which only becomes apparent while gliding over the group of 36 conglomerate rock domes. The highest of which stands 198 meters taller than Uluru and spreads 36 square km.

Enjoy this tour anytime throughout the day.

You haven’t seen it all until you have seen it from the air.

Late today you will travel around the base of Uluru in the comfort of your vehicle as your driver guide provides commentary about the numerous sacred sites and features to be found at Uluru.

Continue to the Kuniya Walk where your driver guide will escort you to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the area as your driver guide points out some native flora and explains the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Later, visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where you can learn about Aboriginal culture and see Aboriginal arts and crafts.

In the late afternoon, travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine..

Day 3: Uluru Sunrise / Kata Tjuta / Sound of Silence and Field of Lights
Rise early to travel to the sunrise viewing area, Talinguru Nyakunytjaku, in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee as you watch the changing colours of Uluru as the outback awakens to the first sunlight of the day.

Travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta and admire panoramic views of the southern side before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Explore the gorge and its unusual conglomerate rock formations before following a walking trail through Walpa Gorge.

Your evening begins with a convenient hotel pick-up and transfer to the remote desert location with majestic views of Uluru. As the sun sets on the horizon to the music of a didgeridoo, enjoy gourmet canapes and chilled sparkling wine.

As darkness falls and the coloured lights of the 50,000 glass spheres gently come to life, join your table of fellow travellers for an exceptional three-course menu infused with bush tucker flavours. As the night ignites with countless stars, settle back and listen to our resident star talker decode the southern night sky. Your host will provide insights to the art installation that awaits you, before you’re invited to immerse yourself in the Field of Light, its pathways glistening softly with rhythms of coloured light, beckoning you to explore.

Day 4:
Check out and transfer to the airport for departure flight.
